During a news conference in Argentina, Vice President Joe Biden was late to present his view on US trade with the G20 countries, but said, “We were playing with elevators,” as he read from prepared remarks before departing.
“Now is the time for the world to unify behind aggressive free trade but also aggressive fair trade,” Biden said at the event with Argentina’s President Mauricio Macri in Buenos Aires.
“Let’s be clear, this was not the type of meeting, that wasn’t planned, but it was scheduled in advance. I was ready, I was ready, I was ready. But we had a problem with the elevators,” Biden said.
“Our government, in America, is no different than your government, right?” Biden continued. “We all love elevators.”
Biden also referenced Trump’s blizzard of tweets and the subsequent storms of responses over them, as well as the government shutdown and overall current state of government affairs in the US.
“But we have so much work to do,” Biden said, calling for bipartisanship.
“And you need help from me and from my fellow Democrats. We all have different ideas, but we all have a duty to work together to deliver America’s hopes and dreams.”
